This month’s picture -- 2023 mission trip to Ecuador: preaching at Pilanqui, Ibarra, Ecuador. Pray for the spiritual maturity and growth of the churches in northern Ecuador and in Colombia. [Click picture to enlarge.]
Effective ministry and mission work is a team effort. Jan and I have shared ministry and mission work for 55 years! Countless people have encouraged us, supported us, loved us, and prayed for us. In addition to the customary "Brother Bob" or "Hermano Bob," I am also known as dad and papa (pa-paw). One of my favorite breakfasts is huevos fritos, frijoles, and tortillas, with hot sauce and a cup of rich coffee! The greatest joy of my life is being part of the kingdom of Jesus my King. My #1 priority is to advance "kingdom things" and to help develop authentic "kingdom people." I seek to share the Good News about Jesus everywhere I go, helping people find Jesus and helping people mature as disciples of Jesus. One of the greatest blessings of my life is to be loved by many people around the world!
Introduction
These devotional studies are designed as a guide for reading through and studying the New Testament in one year. Each devotional is based on one chapter of the New Testament. By reading the Scriptural text (included with the devotional) one can read from and meditate on every chapter in the New Testament in a year. Even better, one may choose to complement this devotional guide by reading the daily chapter in one's own Bible, thereby reading the New Testament through in one year (5 devotionals each week x 52 weeks = 260 chapters in the New Testament). The five-days-per-week schedule leaves weekends free for catching up or for other Bible reading and study projects.
Three reading plans are available.
First, follow the reading order in this on-line guide. The suggested order of readings in this guide lets the reader alternate between different sections of the New Testament and different types of literature (gospels, history, letters, prophecy), rather than consecutively reading through the New Testament. This avoids spending long periods of time in specific sections such as the Gospels or the Pauline letters.
Second, read the New Testament through in order. Links to the New Testament books are provided for those who prefer to study or read through the New Testament in order.
Third, develop your own reading order or read randomly. A Daily Bible Reading Guide is provided for those who want to follow a different plan and for those who like to read randomly, checking off or circling the chapters read. The Daily Bible Reading Guide includes both the Old Testament and the New Testament.
To provide a guide that can be used year after year, the calendar links below estimate the number of readings in a month based on how the calendar falls in most years. Depending on the day of the week with which a month begins, there may be a slight variation as one moves from one month to the next.
