Bob preaching in Honduras

I am Jan's husband; dad to Michael, Philip, and Geoff; papaw to Skyla, Madison, Nathanael, Joseph, Morgan, and Clay. My favorite breakfast is huevos fritos, frijoles, and tortillas, with a good hot sauce and a cup of quality coffee! My greatest joy in life is being a part of the kingdom; my #1 goal is to advance "kingdom things." I seek to serve and share the "good news" about Jesus everywhere I go.

About Us

A Personal Note from Bob

Thanks again for visiting us online. These pages mostly have my name on them, but the ministry has always been ours--Jan and I have shared 40 years of ministry this year and counting.

Hard to believe! Where did the time go? For 41 years, I have preached almost every Sunday. I now serve as preaching minister at the Main and Oklahoma congregation in McAlester, Oklahoma. I am so blessed! They allow me to continue my ministry of research, writing, teaching, church consulting, and conducting seminars in areas like leadership, ministry, small groups, small churches, and team-building. I get to research and write about the dynamics and goals of interim ministry. They let me have lots of time away each year to be involved in mission work, primarily in Latin America, leading mission trips and participating in campaigns, workshops, preacher training, and teaching activities. They provide a wonderful laboratory to test new concepts in home churches, small groups, and leadership development. Along the way, they give me time to serve as adjunct professor when teaching opportunities come, and also to answer invitations to speak and help other churches.

Growing up in Kansas, Jan and I had no idea that God would take us around the world (literally) as kingdom servants. We have been privileged to preach, teach, and work in 26 states and about a dozen foreign countries.

NOTE: As 2010 concludes, we plan to lessen our commitment to the local church ministry and to expand our work in church consulting, seminars and workshops, evangelistic series and missions!

We are now scheduling for 2011 and beyond! Please contact us if you would like to schedule a seminar or special series.

A Little of Our Story

Bob served as Professor of Bible and Ministry and Director of the Bible program at Ohio Valley College, now Ohio Valley University from 1995-2002. During his early years at OVU he also served as Dean of Service Learning. From 1999-2001 he served as Executive Vice President, and from 2001-2002 as Senior Vice President for Administrative Services. In 2002 we resigned our work at OVU to return to the center of the U.S. to be closer to aging parents.

Prior to his work at OVU, Bob served as a full-time minister for 26 years, primarily with the Holmes Road Church of Christ in Lansing, Michigan (1976-1987) and with the Fort Gibson Church of Christ in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma (1987-1995). While at Ohio Valley, he had the privilege of preaching in more than 150 churches. His interest in interim ministry began during this time as he served in various interim roles for local congregations.

When we moved back to the center of the U.S., Bob served as pulpit minister for the Main and Oklahoma Church of Christ in McAlester, Oklahoma for two years. He served as director of graduate Bible programs in the Graduate School of Theology at Oklahoma Christian University in Oklahoma City for almost four years. In 2007, he and Jan accepted an invitation to return to McAlester to minister with the Main and Oklahoma church in a second tenure.

In 2010, Bob will conclude his role as pulpit minister with the church, and expand his work in ministry and missions.
