JMA Clinic

The James Moody Adams Clinic is a work of the Asociacion Amicus (Association Amicus), a non-profit organization which is chartered and operates under Honduran law.

The primary center of operations for the Association Amicus is in Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras. The bylaws of the Association authorize it to engage in various Christian activities which demonstrate the compassion of Jesus to the people of Honduras, especially to those in the poorest sectors, and to advance the gospel in Honduras, Central America, and beyond into all of Latin America.

These activities of the Association are centered in two major works:
(1)a baccaulaureate-level ministry and missions training program at Instituto Baxter, and
(2) the activities of the JMA Clinic which provide medical and dental care, nutritional support and instruction, and vocational training services.
The Association is also authorized to be involved in other benevolent and evangelistic works that develop as time and opportunities are provided by the Lord.

These programs have contributed significantly to the growth of the churches of Christ in Honduras and beyond into Latin America. There are almost 300 congregations of the churches of Christ in Honduras today--a rapid multiplication from the handful of congregations that existed in 1978 when the Association Amicus moved the school from Mexico to Honduras.

Baxter graduates have gone forth into all of Central America and beyond. There are now almost 600 graduates and alumni who are preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ all across Latin America and the Spanish-speaking world. Students have come from most of the countries of Central and South America and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean, with many either going back to their home country to preach the gospel or becoming involved with a mission team to take the gospel into other Latin American countries.

YOU CAN HELP MEET THE NEEDS OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN HONDURAS! For $30/month, you can provide the medical, dental and nutritional needs of a Honduran child. Medical professionals can donate time and services at the clinic during brief mission trips and visits to the clinic.

You could participate in one of the medical brigades which continue to provide supplementary and special care at the JMA clinic--brigades generally spend a week at the clinic during the summer months. Or if you cannot participate in a medical brigade, you could help identify medical personnel willing to participate, or help with funding for those who are willing to go.

Evangelistic teams work with patients at the clinic to share the gospel of Christ and to link those who become Christians through obedience to the gospel with a local congregation near their residence. Non-medical personnel work in nutrition and the distribution of supplies and food.
