Don Vinzant: Celebrating Today

Today is the funeral for Don Vinzant. Just a week ago, I received the following as a “daily communique” from Emergent Village. When I read this thought, it gave me pause. Today, it seems especially appropriate.

Celebrating Today
I walk down the steep hill through the trees to the creek. Emily, the mother dog is with me. The statue of St. Francis stands on the other side. The sun is shining and it is beautiful. I say a prayer. I will be eighty years old tomorrow and I think … “the day will come, maybe not too long from now, when I would give anything in the world … for it to be … today.”
