Sharing the Vision

You have probably seen one just as I have--a cap with two bills, pointing in opposite directions. The cap usually has a logo included, something like "I'm the leader, which way did they go?" or "I'm confused, do you know where I'm going?"

When I see a cap like that, I cannot help but be reminded of the church. Where are we going? Why is everyone going in a different direction? Why doesn't everyone understand what they are supposed to be doing? Why don't the leaders do something? Why don't the followers follow the leaders?

In most churches, there are many different ideas about the direction the church is going, or should be going. Despite the fact that regular reevaluation is recommended for success in our individual lives, many churches seldom have conversations about such things. This indicates to me that it is a good idea to refocus periodically on our emphasis as a congregation.

We are in the process of writing a mission statement, vision statement, value statement, and motto. An initial proposal has been drafted, and we will pray regularly this fall about the direction God wishes us to go.

Let me encourage you to think about the following questions.
