One of my favorite songs begins, "How long has it been..." One of the amazing facts of life is that time can pass by swiftly and we so easily fail to do what we planned to do, intended to do, know we should do.
Consider the following questions.
How long has it been....
since you wrote a random love note--no reason, just pick a brother or sister at random, and write from the heart
Perhaps the items on this list are not the things you believe God is calling you to do, but "Every Christian Can Do Something to Encourage Someone Else!" Answer the call of God. Every Christian can do something to advance kingdom things. Will you? Will I?
since you spoke an encouraging word to your children or grandchildren
since you visited someone who lives alone
since you contacted someone who is shut in
since you wrote a letter to someone whom you happened to think about
since you read the Bible for someone too ill to read it for themselves
since you encouraged a brother or sister in a time of difficulty
since you tried to have a Bible study with someone you know is lost
since you told a teen you are proud of their effort to live for Christ
since you spent some serious time in prayer
since you prayed earnestly for a brother or sister in trouble spiritually
since you prayed earnestly for a lost soul
since you surprised an elder or deacon by volunteering to do something you saw needing done
since you volunteered to help a young family with their children
since you invited some brothers and sisters to share a special time with you
since you told your family of your love and appreciation
since you told your spouse how much you love them
since you told your spouse how important sharing faith is for you
