Howard Norton

Howard and Jane Norton
Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Searcy, Arkansas

Dr. Howard Norton was elected president of the Association in April 2009. He serves as executive director of the Association and as President of Baxter Institute, and is an ex oficio member of the board of directors. He and his wife Jane served 16 years as missionaries in Brazil. Howard brings over 30 years of experience in Christian universities to his work with the Association and as president of Baxter Institute. He may be best known for his work as past editor of the Christian Chronicle.

 

 


Tom Boren

Tom and Gail Boren
Houston, Texas

Tom serves as chair of the membership committee and is an initial contact for those interested in serving as a member of the Association Amicus board. Tom also serves as a "vocal" (member at large) for the Assembly and as such is a member of the executive committee. Tom is a member of the finance/development committee. Tom was elected to membership in the Association in March, 1999.

 

 

Mark Brewer

Mark and Cindy Brewer
Nashville, Tennessee

Mark became a member of the Association in December, 2004. He is currently serving a second term as treasurer and is a member of the executive committee. In addition, Mark serves on the finance/development committee of the board. He attends the Brentwood Hills church in Nashville, Tennessee.

 

 

 

Jerry Brooks

Jerry and Teresa Brooks
Austin, Texas

Jerry serves as one of two vocals (members at large) in the Assembly of the Association and is a member of the executive committee. Jerry also serves on the strategic planning committee and chairs the clinic committee. Jerry is a member of the Westover Hills church in Austin and has been a member of the Association since March, 1999. Jerry is also active in the work of World Bible School.

 

 

Loy and Mary Burch

Loy and Mary Burch
Blacksburg, Virginia

Loy was elected to the Assembly in 2006. He worships with the church in Blacksburg and has an active involvement and interest in mission work. He serves on the clinic committee.

 

 

Norm and Denise Easter

Norm and Denise Easter
Edmond, Oklahoma

Norm was elected to the Assembly in 2008 and serves as board secretary and a member of the executive committee. IN addition, Norm serves on the finance/development committee. He and his wife, Denise, attend the Memorial Road church in Edmond, Oklahoma where they serve on the missions committee.

 

 

Jim Frazier

Jim and Mikal Frazier
Minden, Louisiana

Jim served as chairman of the Assembly for almost a decade. He has a long association with the works overseen by Association Amicus, having served as a board member for over 30 years. At the request of the board, Jim serves as an ex oficio member of the executive committee. He is a member of the Baxter committee of board.

 

 

Wilbur Harkness
Midland, Texas

Wilbur Harkness is a member of the Senior Board of the Association. He serves as an elder of the Westside church in Midland.

 

 

Jerry Harris

Jerry and Diane Harris
Huntsville, Texas

Jerry was elected to the Assembly in 2007. He worships with the church in Huntsville and has an active interest in the work at Baxter Institute. He serves on the Baxter committee. (His son-in-law and daughter were formerly at Baxter as students and teacher.)

 

 

Calvin Henry

Calvin and Linda Henry
Aubrey, Texas

Calvin served as president of Baxter Institute for seven years, stepping down in December, 2003. He and Linda currently serves with Continent of Great Cities in recruiting and training Latin teams. He continues an active involvement in missions across Latin America. Calvin is a member of the Baxter committee.

 

 

Tim Maxcey

Tim and Charlotte Maxcey
McAlester, Oklahoma

Tim serves as an elder in the Main and Oklahoma congregation in McAlester, Oklahoma. He has a great interest in mission work and has participated in numerous mission trips. He is a graduate of Oklahoma Christian University. He was added to the board in 2010 and serves on the finance/development committee.

 

 

Tom Miller

Tom and Maelene Miller
Houston, Texas

Tom and his family have a long relationship with the Association Amicus. His father also served as a member of the Association. Tom has served on the executive committee of the Association and in numerous other areas. He currently serves as a member of the clinic committee.

 

 

Lynn Mitchell

Lynn and Barry Mitchell
Edmond, Oklahoma

Lynn Vaughn Mitchell attends the Memorial Road Church of Christ, Edmond, OK. Even before being added to the board, Lynn had been to Baxter several times. She loves what Baxter is doing. She was added to the board in 2010 and serves on the clinic committee.

 

 

Berto Murillo and family

Berto and Carmen Murillo
Irving, Texas/Santa Barbara, Honduras

Berto is from Santa Barbara, Honduras and currently serves as director of Family Life Mission Network. He is actively involved in various mission projects. He was elected to the Assembly in 2004 and serves on the Baxter committee of the board.

 

 

Noe Perez

Noe and Gloria Perez
Tegucigalpa, Honduras

Noe Perez serves as fiscal of the Association. Noe has been a member of the Association since 2001. He serves as an elder of the Guanacaste church, and previously served as an elder in the church in Siguatepeque. He has served as chairman of the national association of churches of Christ in Honduras. Noe, as fiscal of the Association, is a member of the executive committee.

 

 

Frank Price

Frank and Dorothy Price
Huntsville, Texas

Frank has had an interest in the work of the Association Amicus for a number of years. He has served as an officer of the Association. He is a retired professor. He now serves as a member of the Senior Board.

 

 

Bob and Ridglae Stephens

Bob and Ridglae Stephens
Vienna, West Virginia

Bob was elected to the board of directors in 2009. He was elected vice-chairman in 2010. He is chair of the finance-development committee and also sits on the Baxter committee. Bob previously served as president of Ohio Valley University and is now the CEO of a private West Virginia foundation. He and his wife, Ridglae, are members of the Grand Central church.

 

 

Dean and Diane Sutphin

Dean and Diane Sutphin
Blacksburg, Virginia

Dean was elected to the Assembly in 2007. He worships with the church in Blacksburg and has an active interest in the work of the Amicus Association at the JMA Clinic. Dean serves at Virginia Tech and provides an effective liaison with the involvement of VCOM at the Clinic. He sits on the clinic committee of the board.

 

 

Chuck Wilson

Chuck and Bobbye Wilson
Austin, Texas

Chuck was elected as a member of the Association in March, 1999 and has served the Association in various roles. He currently serves as liaison with the Westover Hills congregation, and as such is an ex oficio member of the executive committee. He is a member of the Baxter committee. Chuck serves as an elder in the Westover Hills church.

 

 

Bob and Jan Young

Bob and Jan Young
McAlester, Oklahoma

Bob was elected to the Assembly in 2003 and served as secretary from 2003-2008. Bob has participated in short-term mission work in numerous Latin American countries, serving with medical mission teams, teaching, preaching, and working with planting new churches. He has also been involved in Hispanic ministry and evangelism in the U.S. He has served as a visiting professor at Baxter Institute, and continues active involvement as a teacher and speaker in seminars, retreats, and campaigns across Latin America. He has served in higher education administration and also as a professor of undergraduate and graduate biblical and ministry studies at Ohio Valley University and Oklahoma Christian University. He serves the Association as chairman of the board, and also chairs the Baxter committee and the strategic planning committee.
